About the Author
Hans Holzer, whose investigations into the paranormal took him to haunted houses and other sites all over the world, wrote more than 140 books on ghosts, the afterlife, witchcraft, extraterrestrial beings, and other phenomena associated with the realm he called “the other side.” Among his famous subjects was the Long Island house that inspired The Amityville Horror book and film adaptations. Holzer studied at the University of Vienna, Austria, and at Columbia University, New York, earning a master’s degree in comparative religion. He taught parapsychology at the New York Institute of Technology. Holzer died in 2009.

Hans Holzer is one of the best writers of ghost stories that I've ever read. However, the only complaint that I have is many of his books contain the same stories with a few new ones thrown in. For the price, this is a must have for Holzer fans.

Hans Holzer is a noted authority on ghosts,spirits,and the paranormal. This is a thoroughly written book that explains the subject from both sides of the coin. A must read for the beginning parapsychologist.

About the Author
SIMON COLLINSON is Professor of International Business and Innovation at Henley Business School, Reading University (UK) and Guangbiao Chair Professor, Zhejiang University (China). An excellent book on a topic of growing importance in organizations today. The authors do an excellent job to explain the difference between good complexity and bad complexity, and use relevant case studies of recognized companies to explain the difference, and the tipping point where complexity stops adding value to a company's proposition.

Solid work. I highly recommend it!

Moreover, however, if you really want real food to eat and want a place where children are accepted, this book is your best bet! There are many pubs in the countryside with excellent food, but you need this guide to find them. All villages must have a pub and most have a poor excuse for food (if that's what they call it). I like the guide in e-book format as it is big!

It's a Good Pub Guide, indeed

I've used the Good Pub Guides for years - and have contributed a number of times. It is, by far, the best guide for finding good places to eat and stay in the UK. The reviews are accurate, unbiased, and helpful. I bought this edition on Kendle which is obviously easier for traveling, but more difficult to search and navagate. I wish one could search by tapping in the town location. Doing that gives you many hits from places miles away which use the same word somewhere in the article. Both Kendle and print have their advantages. I have the 2012 edition in print and use both for planning, but guess I'll take just the Kendle with me to save space.

book great electronic edition needs work

We used this book all over England to find great pubs with great beer and even stayed in one of the recommended pubs in the Lake District. My main complaint was that the kindle function --at least on my iPad-- made the electronic version difficult to use. For example, if you are reading a review and click on a link to get to a map there is no easy way to get back to the page you are reading. This made it very difficult to locate a pub that was in a particular area. 5 stars for content, if you like pubs. And who doesn't?

A little costly for the information in it that can be found easily with a Google search

I was excited to check this book out because it seemed to have some useful information in it regarding Japan's seedy underworld of porn and sex and all that sort of fun kink that Japan is known for. However, two points need to be made about this book before you consider buying it:
1. The book is OLD. I think its copyrighted around 1993, but this is long enough to miss out on an enormous chunk of Japan's sex trade history. It's still good, I feel, up to this point in time that the book was published, but there's a lot more to be said about the contemporary Japanese sex trade that I wished could've been put into an updated modernized version of the book.

2. The history parts are great, but then in every chapter, it delves mostly into a glossary of definitions of what this sex position means or what this sex phrase implies. That's kind of useful for research, but not if you are looking to read a book about Japan's sex trade as a whole. It's part glossary, part storytelling, and a lot of it feels very unsubstantiated on the history end too. I could only wonder where all the backing notes were to justify everything that was written in this book. There's a lot of sweeping generalizations in the stories that certainly make for quick and easy reading, but seems like an odd contrast when juxtaposed to the more definitive glossary parts of the book.

Oh, and i should mention that this book just ends. No concluding chapter, no discussion or reflection on what was just discussed. It's literally the strangest thing when obviously the author seemed to have put in a lot of time writing this book and doing research, assuming the research he did was sound (Not sure because not much is really said about his process other than at the beginning with a few paragraphs of explanation).
Is this an interesting book? Yes, to some degree. Could it have been better written? IN a million ways I can't even list here. But I would say for the price it's going for at the time I've written this review, it's not worth anything near as much as what's being asked. Plus much of the information now can be found on Google easily with a quick search. So... maybe good for just having if you are interested in Japan's sex trade, but I can't think of many other reasons to buy this book at the exorbitant price it's being sold at here on amazon

Don't pass this one up.

A wonderful book and adventure. It will build up a fire in you to get started on your dreams if you are so inclined to motorcycle adventure. The story brought me in like I haven't experienced before and made me feel like I was a part of Bernard and Cathy's adventure. Cathy's perspective on accomplishing such an adventure while being blind was informative. I now feel like I have a much better perspective on the struggles a blind person goes through in daily life in addition to how overcoming other's perceived hindrances can sometimes be simple, but yet so incredible. The emotions and thoughts shared by Cathy and Bernard's narratives really show how a long journey can tear you down and build you back up, but the huge accomplishment of a round the world journey is something that can really make you change and grow.

This is a beautiful book, give it a go, you will not regret it. By the way, this is now my favorite motorcycle travel book.
