Great book about a controversial subject.
By JRTMom
This is a great book to read and study. The author has pulled together well managed studies and given a synopsis of each study. the drug industry is going to hate this book because it finally tells the truth. You can learn more in this book about the real benefits of cholesterol and how vitally important it is to your health than you will ever find on the internet.

Read it, buy your doctor a copy, buy your friends and relatives copies - this is extremely important information you may not find anywhere else.

Scientific evidence results showing that it is wrong to lower Cholesterol
By Gert Bo Thorgersen
I bought this book even though I already own many cholesterol books since my fighting with doctors started in the month of February 6 years ago. I bought it as opposite to the other books it especially concentrate on by the 101 scientific report results to show that lowering the cholesterol results in bad health. And beside I bought it as the front paper drawings make it a good book to place in front of persons who believe that the lover the cholesterol the better.

My fighting with doctors and hospitals, started after the blood measure results for me and my wife came out, and showed that my wife had the total cholesterol on 268 and the HDL on 114, and the 2 doctors then wanted to put her on a bad drug. By using the calculation from Harvard Medical School I then showed them that actually she only was having < 1 % chance during the following 10 years getting a heart attack, and that opposite to this, my chance was on 8 % with my 198 in cholesterol. But the doctors wouldn’t change their ideas.

And since then I to hospital doctors have shown and lend books, and delivered written down facts from books and Google, but nothing have changed, they still tells that cholesterol is bad, and that it only is allowed in being between 0 and 200, and the closer to zero the better. And thinking that 0 is good even though I have shown them a doctor book concerning the Smith-Lemli-Opitz syndrome (SLO), which we reads about in “Low Cholesterol leads to an Early Death”. The genetic disorder which results in low IQ and often deformed fingers, toes, or nose.

In the book we are getting science words and names which the doctors use, like for example he Smith-Lemli-Opitz syndrome, but they are explained in the text and besides we back in the book have a 12 sides glossary.

It was interesting to read the foreword by Tom Naughton and thereby recalling how we all, especially in the Western countries, starting way back in the 1970s, from the state health departments was told that the total cholesterol should be less than 200, and we besides, among other, also learned not to eat saturated fats. And the results then began turning out in people getting heavier and heavier, and less and less healthy by among other increasing the cases of heart attacks and cancer, but health departments, the drug producers, and nearly all of the doctors continued with the same story. And actually most persons still blindly are doing what the states and the doctors are telling them, and what they read on the drug papers, and in most magazines and newspapers.

Last in chapter 5, “Low cholesterol leads to an increased prevalence of many diseases”, we read a 10 sides long Alex’s story, I which is used many of the cholesterol facts in connection to Alex and the persons whom he meet during his live from the day he was born. A good story by which we in a more concentrated way, than when reading through the science papers, uses the results in pointing out how life, health, will turn out when either having high or low cholesterol. Personally I feel that the story would have been better placed, if the Alex story had followed just after the foreword, and getting person more interested by in the following science papers reading the proofs of what was told in the story.

As seen on the book cover, we in the book are getting the facts concerning many different health problems which can be the result of too low cholesterol and facts telling this being found in the 101 research paper results. But beside the text we also get 2 graphical figures with the first one showing how many years we are probably are living as the result of how high the cholesterol level is, and the second graph showing how statistically the dead rates for cardiovascular diseases falls the higher the cholesterol levels is. These graphs are found by in statistically calculating using the data from 86 countries, where the data respectively tells about the average cholesterol levels and the average expectancy in years for the residents in each of these countries. The graphs are good facts to look at, but besides it’s also interesting to look at the columns with the data from these 86 countries. Whereby we for example find that in Trinidad and Tobago the average cholesterol is 232.05 mg/dl and the expectance in years 69, while in German respectively 222.3 and 79, and in Lesotho 167.7 and 46.

In the book throughout the 101 research papers we of course get results concerning hearth attach, which we mostly are told as being connected to cholesterol, but wrongly by most doctors being told that high cholesterol results in heart attacks, but which the papers shows being totally wrong. But besides the heart attach we among other also read about the low cholesterol increases the change in being hit by Parkinson’s, earlier dead, lower intelligence, Hepatitis C, Crohn’s disease, Schizophrenia, Liver diseases, Colon cancer, Autism, dead by AIDS, and much more.

And many of the results will be hard to grab for most doctors as they only are looking at cholesterol at list being less than 200, but opposite to their bad knowledge we then for example in the paper 87 read that the risk of Parkinson’s disease is 45 % decreased for persons with cholesterol above 286 mg/dl, compared to those having less than 228. High numbers, compared to the max 200 which the doctors tells.

And then for example in the science papers we also read about a connection to suicide a subject which I not have found mentioned in my other cholesterol books. And concerning suicide we for example in the paper 71 read that for person with cholesterol less than 165 mg/dl, the risk is more than 6 times higher than for those having the cholesterol higher than 223 mg/dl.

In the paper 54, we read a Finish research results, telling about the connection between low cholesterol and violence and anti-social behavior. Here stating that the average cholesterol levels of the anti-social persons are lower than that of the average Finish population. , and among other telling us that violent offenders who had lower than average cholesterol levels were found to be 8 times more likely to die of unnatural causes.

And opposite to the wrong story about lowering the cholesterol, where it normally rise when we are getting older, it is interesting in the paper 23 to read that an American report from 1996 tells that it is bad to lover the cholesterol. This because among other it was found that for persons over the age of 65 declining cholesterol levels greater than 20 % per year was accompanied by a 630 % increase in death rates.

There already exist many books about how important cholesterol is concerning our health. But to me this book especially is good as we by the short writings about 101 research results, see that low cholesterol also is connected to diseases which we normally not read about in the connection to cholesterol.
