Informative but with some explaination missing

I have two pressure cookers, one that is electric and one that is a stove top model. My mother gave me informal directions like how to cook chicken and rice with it, but I don't actually have any recipes and wanted a book I can refer to. I was thrilled to get this book and there were many things I liked:

*There are MANY recipes for all types of diets from vegetarian, to vegan and gluten-free. The variety and number of recipes was great.
*I liked that the author included info on canning. That's something I've been interested in trying out.
*There's also info on stop and go cooking, steaming, a "cooking times" table so you can create your own recipes or modify your existing favorite recipe so it can be cooked in the pressure cooker.
*There are even a few slow cooker recipes. I found it odd that in a book about pressure cookers, the first recipes you encounter are for slow cooking but hey, I suppose the more recipes the better.

One thing to note: There are no photos (not color or black and white) of any of the recipes. This wasn't a big deal to me but I know many people are visual and want to see what their finished product will look like. This is not the book for them. There were, however, things that bugged me about the book:

*The entire book is written for a pressure cooker that reaches 15 psi. Neither of mine do. My electric one goes to 10psi and my stove top goes to 12 psi. He advocates getting an electric pressure cooker but fails to mention that many of them do not reach 15 psi. I wish there was a section on how much time to add for each psi below 15 or how to adjust recipes for this.

*The author states on pg. 57 that you should always use 2 cups of liquid in order to obtain maximum pressure output. This is echoing what my mother told me so I took it as fact. But many recipes use less than 2 cups. For example, the candied sweet potatoes uses 1 cup of orange juice for 3 lbs of potatoes. Am I supposed to double this recipe so I can get at least 2 cups of liquid in there? But then that would be 6 lbs of potatoes and my pot would be more than 2/3 full which is a no-no.

Overall, I'm still glad I got this book because there is useful info here. I just wish the author talked more about pressure cookers that don't reach 15 psi, and to explain the liquid requirements better.

Perfect book for Pressure Cooker newbies

I recently purchased a pressure cooker for the first time and was looking for a book with easy-to-follow recipes. This book was perfect. To date, I have cooked the Indian Butter Chicken and Greek Lemon Rice. Both were delicious. Also, I appreciate that the author gives directions for both electric (which I have) and stovetop pressure cookers.
